Ontario Launching One Fare Program for GTA Transit Riders

The provincial government is putting money back in the pockets of transit riders, where it belongs.

A student should not have to skip class because they can’t afford a bus pass.

People shouldn’t have to miss out on big moments or on that next job because of the price of transit.

That is why, as of February 26, this government is making it more affordable and easier to take public transit with the launch of Ontario’s One Fare Program, allowing riders to pay only once and transfer for free between the TTC and neighboring municipalities.

For an adult who commutes five days a week, this could save them an average $1,600 a year.

Fully funded by the Ontario government, the One Fare Program applies to commuters transferring between the TTC and GO Transit, Brampton Transit, Durham Region Transit, MiWay in Mississauga, and York Region Transit.

Whether you’re commuting to work, attending a sporting event or visiting friends and family, we are making transferring from one municipality’s transit system to another more simple, convenient and affordable.

Over the next decade the government is investing over $70.5 billion to transform public transit in the province and ensure we have the infrastructure our growing province needs.
