Caroline Mulroney Celebrates Jim Parks

The Ontario government is celebrating the accomplishments of 20 outstanding seniors for their contributions to their communities and to the province at the 2023 Ontario Senior Achievement Award.

Caroline Mulroney is delighted that this year there is a recipient from Mount Albert, Jim Parks. He was awarded his 2023 Ontario Senior Achievement Award today February 29th by the Lieutenant Governor, Her Honour the Honourable Edith Dumont.

His recipient citation reads:

Joseph James (Jim) Parks stormed ashore on Juno Beach alongside his comrades in the Royal Winnipeg Rifles on June 6, 1944, when he was only 19. He fought battles through France, Germany, and Holland and on numerous occasions narrowly escaped with his life. When the war ended, he returned to Canada remaining in service to the Canadian Armed Forces. Over the years, Jim has been relentlessly committed to sharing his stories and keeping the memories alive of other Canadians who fought these battles, ensuring their valuable fight for our freedom is never forgotten.
