$150,000 OTF Grant Gives the Portuguese Cultural Centre of Bradford an Upgrade

Bradford, ON – On Friday, local MPP Caroline Mulroney met with the committee of the Portuguese Cultural Centre of Bradford Inc. to congratulate them on receiving a $150,000 Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). Joining MPP Mulroney was Marv Chantler, an OTF volunteer. The grant will be used by the Centre to install a new roof and upgrade appliances and electrical wiring in the 40-plus-year-old kitchen. This project will be completed within the next year and will give the centre better condition for events and rentals in the years to come.

“The Portuguese Culture Centre is an important staple of life in Bradford,” said Caroline Mulroney, MPP for York-Simcoe. “This $150,000 grant demonstrates our government’s continued commitment to support and make sure it remains a community gathering place for decades to come.”

In addition to the installation of a new roof and the upgrades in the kitchen, the Centre will be fundraising to complete some more projects within the kitchen. The building, located at 767 Simcoe Road, is used by its members and a number of local organizations for meetings, celebrations and fundraisers. And thanks to the $150,000 grant, the space will continue to be a gathering space for a long time to come.

“The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant is truly a blessing,” said Paulo Perdiz, President of the Portuguese Cultural Centre of Bradford. “This grant will allow needed renovations to be made. With these renovations both to the roof and to the kitchen we can provide grater safety and quality to all who use this centre.  We also want to congratulate the Ontario Trillium Foundation on years of granting and building healthy and beautiful communities across the province.”

The Portuguese Cultural Centre of Bradford is committed to preserving this space and hopes to continue to provide the community with a safe and clean environment for many more years. If you are interested in using the space, please visit the Centre’s Facebook page and send a message.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations celebrates 40 years of grant-making in Ontario and making a lasting impact in communities.
