South Simcoe Police To Benefit from Ontario Expanding Basic Constable Training Program
As our population continues to grow, this provincial government is ensuring police services have the support, resources and tools they need to keep our communities safe. Police services across Ontario have told us they need more boots on the ground to keep us all safe.
That is why, starting in 2025, the Basic Constable Training program will accommodate an additional 80 recruits per year, with priority being given to the South Simcoe Police Service and other small, medium-sized and First Nation police services including Georgina Island Police.
The increased capacity will ensure police services get the qualified candidates they need to get boots on the ground faster and keep criminals off our streets.
The expanded enrollment will bring the total number of officers trained per year to 2,080.
