Safer Streets Communities Act

The nature of crime has changed, and it is our responsibility to make sure our communities in York and Simcoe have the necessary tools to protect their citizens.

This government has tabled a robust piece of legislation that will strengthen investigative tools for police services, improve access to justice for victims and introduce stronger penalties to help prevent dangerous, criminal activity that puts Ontarians at risk.

Keeping Ontario safe demands a whole-of-government approach. This bill, if passed, will have a significant and positive impact on communities across Ontario. If passed, it will help police better monitor sexual offenders and ban supervised consumption sites near schools and childcare centres.

We will continue to do everything possible to keep our communities safe including calling on the federal government to make several bail-related changes to the Criminal Code that will keep repeat and violent offenders off our streets.
