Partnership between Georgina NP-Led Clinic, NYSS OHT and Southlake brings new children’s care clinic to Georgina
GEORGINA, ON – October 11, 2024 – The Georgina Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic (GNPLC), the Northern York South Simcoe Ontario Health Team (NYSS OHT), and Southlake are excited to announce the opening of a new Nurse Practitioner-Led Children’s Care Clinic in Georgina. This innovative clinic, funded by the Ministry of Health, will open its doors on Tuesday, October 15, offering primary care services to children and youth aged 6 months to 18 years, ensuring care is provided closer to home.

The clinic addresses urgent but non-life-threatening conditions such as cough, colds, flu, fever, headaches and minor injuries, providing high-quality, timely care for families within the Georgina community. Appointments can be easily booked through a central system, with no referral required, ensuring convenience for families seeking care.
The clinic is a result of a novel partnership between GNPLC, NYSS OHT and Southlake, which reflects a shared commitment to improve local health services. It is also in line with the NYSS OHT’s strategy to bring quality care closer to home and support families in accessing timely, coordinated care in their community.

There is no fee to access the clinic. If patients have a family physician, there is no penalty for seeking care at the clinic.

About the Georgina Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic
The Georgina Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic (GNPLC) is a not-for-profit organization that has been operation since July 2011, providing care for 3,600 residents of all ages each year. The clinic is fully funded by Ontario Health with a governing board of directors, and has an overall patient satisfaction rate of 96 per cent.
NP-led clinics are a team-based healthcare delivery model in which NPs are the main healthcare providers. They provide well-rounded, accessible, timely and coordinated family healthcare services along with a team of healthcare professionals. NP-led clinics utilize an evidence-based approach tot heir practice; focusing on health promotion, disease prevention and wellbeing.
