$90,000 OTF Grant from the Ontario Government Inspires Possibilities for individuals supported through Community Living Georgina
Georgina, ON – On Thursday, MPP Caroline Mulroney met with the team at Community Living Georgina to hear more about the $90,000 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) that was used to purchase an accessible minivan. The grant, awarded last summer, has enabled the group to buy a new vehicle that will result in increased opportunities for people receiving services to better access their community.
“It was great to join the team at Community Living Georgina to recognize how they are providing improved mobility options for members of our community who experience transportation barriers,” said Caroline Mulroney, MPP for York-Simcoe. “Because of our government’s investment through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, this new van will get people to where they need to go, comfortably and safely.”
“We are so extremely grateful for the opportunities that this grant has provided,” said Patti Burgess, Executive Director, Community Living Georgina. “As a charitable Association we believe in a future in which community members with diverse abilities are supported to achieve their potential, understand their rights and make a positive contribution to their community. The purchase of this vehicle will provide us greater flexibility to support individuals to work, volunteer, and take part in various community activities.”
Community Living Georgina supports approximately 150 individuals and their families living in the Town of Georgina. Its mission is to offer high-quality personalized support to community members with diverse abilities in their pursuit of personal life vision, through advocacy, education, partnerships and choices.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. Last year, OTF invested nearly $105M into 732 community projects and multi-sector partnerships. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment.
