Ontario Welcomes $200 Million Boost to Manufacturing in Port Colborne

We are pleased to welcome Jungbunzlauer’s $200 million investment to strengthen local manufacturing, create jobs, and boost regional economic growth in Port Colborne.

Through Invest Ontario, Ontario is supporting this investment with $4.8 million in funding in the form of a grant.

The investment will establish the first xanthan gum manufacturing facility in the country, creating 50 new, good-paying jobs for local workers.

Jungbunzlauer is the only producer of xanthan gum in Canada. This fermented sugar is used to thicken and stabilize products across a variety of sectors such as food and beverages, health care, animal feed, personal care, detergents and various industrial applications.

We’ve restored Ontario’s manufacturing might, which is why Ontario added more manufacturing jobs last year than all 50 U.S. states combined. Jungbunzlauer’s investment is another vote of confidence in Ontario and our world-class talent.
