Ontario Supporting Tender Fruit, Apple and Grape Growers in York-Simcoe
Did you know York-Simcoe is home to Fruit Growers? It’s true!
The governments of Canada and Ontario are investing up to $8 million through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership to support the production of targeted varieties of tender fruits, apples, and grapes that align with market demand.
This will help make our fruit producers be more competitive and result in several popular wine grape, apple, and tender fruit varieties becoming more widely available for consumers to enjoy.
Under the Growing Future Opportunities Initiative, eligible producers can apply for funding to purchase apple and tender fruit plants to replace older or less desirable varieties. The grape growers intake will follow the apple and tender fruit growers intake.
Ensuring Ontario agri-food businesses in Central Ontario have the means to support growth and reach their potential is critical to meeting the goals outlined in the Grow Ontario Strategy.
