Ontario Building Training Centres

Nearly 300,000 jobs are going unfilled across our province, costing us billions in lost productivity.

Today, the government is tackling this historic labour shortage and getting more people into rewarding careers in the skilled trades.

This government is investing $224 million in a new Capital Stream of the Skills Development Fund (SDF) to support innovative training projects focused on building and modernizing the infrastructure Ontario needs to train workers to fill in-demand jobs and lead purpose-driven careers.

Launching in late spring 2023, the new SDF Capital Stream will help eligible training providers, including unions, to renovate, retrofit, repair, and expand existing training centres or help them construct new training facilities.

The new capital stream will complement the existing Skills Development Fund that launched in 2021.

To date, the Skills Development Fund has launched 388 projects, helping almost 400,000 people across the province take the next step in their careers.
