MPP Mulroney Announces the Approval of the ClearWater Farm Infrastructure Project
Ontario investing over $1.6 million to rehabilitate and renovate recreational infrastructure in Georgina
GEORGINA – Today, Caroline Mulroney, MPP for York-Simcoe, announced that through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, ClearWater Farm operated by the Ontario Water Centre, received approval for their renovation project. Ontario’s investment of over $1.6 million will go towards rehabilitating a barn, constructing a new play space, installing additional utilities and lighting, improving accessibility, like elevators, washrooms and pathways, and expanding the parking lot.
“When the century old barn at Clearwater Farm burned down, it marked a sad time for our community. However, residents came together to help rebuild the farm and now this funding will help us complete it,” said Caroline Mulroney, MPP for York-Simcoe. “I want to thank both the Federal and Provincial Governments for their support, and for coming together to make strategic infrastructure investments in communities when they are needed most.”
The Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program is a cost-shared, application-based infrastructure funding opportunity. Contributions to this project are as follows:
Recipient: Ontario Water Centre
Project Title and Funding Stream: Completing the Renovations to the Barn Area at Clearwater Farm – CCRIS
Federal Funding: $1,999,998
Provincial Funding: $1,666,499

“We are thrilled with this $3.7 million grant from the Federal and Provincial Bilateral Infrastructure Fund for ClearWater Farm. It recognizes our community’s remarkable rally to rebuild a farm that celebrates local food, connects young people with nature, and honours our great Lake Simcoe as well,” said Annabel Slaight, Founding Chair, Ontario Water Centre/ClearWater Farm. “The completion of the new 4-seasons barn will stand as an enduring testament to how the melding of science, the arts and Traditional Ecological Knowledge with innovation and determination can result in meaningful benefits to the economy, society and the environment – and helping us all learn and grow.”
These improvements will help create a recreational and cultural community hub which residents and visitors can access year-round and will be in place to enjoy for years to come.
