Introducing the Affordable Energy Act
Energy demand in Ontario is soaring as we build new homes, welcome historic international investments, and electrify our economy.
Unlike the Liberals who prioritized ideology over affordability in the failed Green Energy Act, the PC government has introduced the Affordable Energy Act, with affordability as the number one priority as we build for the future.
To meet soaring demand, we’re building on ambitious work already underway by introducing the Affordable Energy Act that would, if passed, position our province to make generational decisions to set our kids and grandkids up for success, including:
- Setting the stage for the province’s first Integrated Energy Plan which will coordinate planning for all energy resources to keep energy affordable.
- Prioritize Nuclear Energy in our plans to expand energy generation in the province.
- Save families money by expanding energy efficiency programs.
- Making it easier and more affordable for new homes and industries to connect to the grid, making Ontario an attractive place to live and do business.
- Our government is supporting the expansion of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by removing regulatory barriers and accelerating the construction of more EV charging.
This plan will help Ontario emerge as a global leader in clean energy, exporting technology and power to reduce emissions continent-wide, while creating jobs, revenue, and opportunity for Ontario workers and families.
