SHARON—York-Simcoe MPP Caroline Mulroney was at the Sharon Temple today to announce this driving force in the community will receive a $118,000 investment through the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The funds will be provided over 8 months to restore the historic gathering place by painting the interior and exterior of the building.
The investment is part of Ontario’s Government for the People’s overall investment of $83 million to support 263 non-profit organizations in the province to improve community spaces and expand or adapt projects that are already making a difference in the community.
“Our government is committed to strengthening communities and making life easier for the families and organizations that contribute to their growth and vitality,” said MPP Caroline Mulroney. “The Sharon Temple is a driving force and gathering space for so many community, arts, culture and heritage organizations and initiatives that benefit the people of York–Simcoe, and we are thrilled to see this investment through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.”
Across the province, the government’s funding for not-for-profit projects through OTF is expected to bring positive change to 417,000 people, and enhance over 2.4 million square feet of community space.
“It is encouraging to see the great work of so many non-profit organizations in our province,” said Michael Tibollo, Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. “I am delighted that our Government for the People is supporting their valuable projects. Through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we are bringing economic, social, environmental, and health benefits to people across Ontario.”
