$54 million to bring high-speed internet access to more homes in York-Simcoe

The Ontario government is investing nearly $4 billion to bring access to reliable high-speed internet to every community across the province by the end of 2025. This is the largest single investment in high-speed internet, in any province, by any government in Canadian history.
As of July 2023, Ontario has finalized agreements of over $2.3 billion for nearly 200 high-speed internet and cellular projects to enable access across the province. The government is making incredible progress and more projects are continuing to be finalized.
In the summer of 2021, the federal and provincial governments announced $1.2 billion in total funding for projects that will bring access to reliable high-speed internet to communities across Ontario, with the selected internet service provider to be publicly announced once contracts were signed.
On top of that, in April 2022, we announced an additional joint investment of more than $56 million dollars for six more projects that will bring reliable high-speed internet access to over 6,500 homes and businesses in northern and southwestern Ontario.
Today the government announced Rogers as the internet service provider that will bring high-speed internet access to more than 20,000 homes and businesses in 83 communities in Ontario.
Canada and Ontario are investing $54 million in joint funding to support this project through the Universal Broadband Fund (UBF).
Ontario launched a new interactive online map that shows where provincially funded high-speed internet projects are planned, currently under way, or have been recently completed in communities across the province. Ontarians can use the map to search by address, community or municipality and learn more about projects happening in their area, and where high-speed internet service is currently available.
Access to high-speed internet is key to building a stronger Ontario, including through improved access to health services, enabling working and learning online, supporting innovation in the agriculture sector, while also helping to create jobs and investing in the future of our province, today and for generations to come.
